The Wines

John Duval's multi-layered wines offer a degree more finesse than expected from modern Barossa reds. Without excesses of oak or alcohol, these intense, richly textured wines display rare clarity and precision. Beautifully poised - old-vine Barossa at the top of its game.

Eligo (a selection of the best)

John Duval's flagship Shiraz sourced from Barossa Valley's best, low yielding, old-vine vineyards. This highly anticipated release displays great fruit concentration and a bold personality.

Entity (An independent, separate, or self-contained existence)

100% Shiraz from old-vine sources in the Stockwell, Light Pass, Krondorf and Marananga sub-regions of the Barossa Valley. The aim is to produce a wine true to the Barossa Valley, the Shiraz variety and the vagaries of vintage. Great fruit intensity and fine tannin structure, with predominately French oak chosen to compliment the ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit. Impressive aging potential.

Plexus (An interwoven combination of parts or elements in a structure or system)

Predominantly Shiraz and Grenache with a touch of Mourvedre. Shiraz from vineyards in the Stockwell, Light Pass, Ebenezer and Marananga sub-regions. Grenache from 50 to 60 year-old bush vines located in the Stockwell, Light Pass and the Rowland Flat sub-regions. Mourvedre from bush vines, the oldest over 100 years old, located in the Light Pass and the Angaston sub-regions. The aim is to express the wide spectrum of red fruit flavors from Shiraz, Grenache and Mourvedre, at the same time creating a wine of structure with seamless balance and great persistence. Approachable in its youth, yet has great potential for improvement in the bottle.
