The Wines

The Sextons have no hesitation in defining their aims; to produce single vineyard wines that offer length rather than breadth, finesse rather than largesse, and above all, fruit rather than artifact.

Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Harrys Monster

Phil and Allison's 75 acre Sexton Vineyard is located on two ridges rising 400 to 1100 feet above the valley floor. Planted to numerous clones of Chardonnay and Pinot, along with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, these slopes produce pristine, cool-climate wines bottled under the Giant Steps Sexton Vineyard label.

Sexton Vineyard Pinot Noir

Hand picked, sorted and crushed to small open vessels. Cold soaked then hand plunged through fermentation. Extended maceration prior to 12 months barrel aging. Minimal handling, no pumps sulfur or filtration. Floral, earthy spice, cherries. Textural, medium weight, ripe fruit balanced over dusty tannins.

Sexton Vineyard Chardonnay

Hand picked, sorted and whole bunch pressed with minimal sulfur. Barrel fermented and aged on lees for 12 months. Minimal malolatic fermentation. Gravity racked and gently filtered prior to bottling. White peach and citrus with cashew notes. Complex, textured palate, with minerally lemon zest

Sexton Vineyard Harry's Monster (Bordeaux Blend)

Only released when these late ripening varieties have attained sufficient fruit intensity and structure to produce a restrained wine with power yet finesse. Cassis, dark chocolate and vanilla. Blackcurrant, cedar and cloves layered with a fine tannin ladder.
