The palate though fresh and zesty has an underlying basis of spicy cool climate berry fruits. The finish shows the potential to evolve into that refined citrus and honeydew melon flavor that we find in the Siblings Sauvignon Blanc Semillon.

Background:
The Art Series represents Leeuwin’s finest wines from each vintage. The fruit for the Art Series is sourced from the oldest vines on the property and undergo rigorous selection process prior to picking. The labels are identified with paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists. Leeuwin now has a collection of more than 100 works of art, which adorn the ‘Art Series’ labels. The famous ‘Frogs in Riesling’ have featured on the Leeuwin riesling since the earliest vintages in the 1980’s. Wine and Spirits Magazine considers this wine to be ‘consistently one of the best rieslings from Australia.’

Winemaker Notes:
A very well balanced and dry palate, finishing clean and long with lingering sweet citrus fruit, but delicate in structure. Superb drinking now, but with medium ageing potential. An ideal accompaniment to seafood dishes.

‘Prelude Vineyards’ wines are made from fruit producing the most readily expressive wines, with the objective that they will drink well soon after release.

Winemaker Notes:
The initial aromas are intense and lifted with perfumes of white peach, nectarine / stone fruit backed by the wonderful pungency of citrus flowers. Although fermented in oak there is only an underpinning whisper of it present in the bouquet. The palate is up front with fruit showing a predominance of pears and citrus. It has weight, but with true elegance and softness.

Background:
Leeuwin Estate produces Australia’s, and one of the world’s, greatest chardonnays. There is simply no other Australian chardonnay producer that comes close to Leeuwin’s stellar track record. Commentators the world over marvel at these wines with Harvey Steiman of Wine Spectator noting: “Leeuwin is the benchmark (chardonnay producer), not only for the region, but for the country as a whole. Owner Denis Horgan first planted the vines in 1974, and has been making rich, elegant, distinctive and age-worthy wines from estate grown grapes since the 1980’s.”

Winemaker Notes:
The fresh nose is typical from this vineyard, showing intense dried pear characters accompanied by hints of fig, some spice and integrated French oak. The palate displays the mouth filling and intense flavors of dried pears, with the middle palate showing richness from both the fruit and yeast lees stirring. Length is a feature of this wine - the palate is long and complex with a lingering clean citrus finish. The new French oak complements the fruit allowing a wonderful balance of warm toasty flavors on the finish.

Winemaker Notes:
Soft sweet fruit greets the palate which is medium weight. Again we see the concentrated raspberry fruit with some spiciness and a fine tannin structure. This wine is a fine example of a wine complemented by oak maturation without any dominance of the oak flavors.

Background:
The Art Series represents Leeuwin’s finest wines from each vintage. The winemakers have always selected the optimum fruit, transforming it into Leeuwin’s highest quality wines for this label. They are identified with paintings commissioned from leading contemporary Australian artists.

Winemaker Notes:
The color is vibrant plum with velvet purple edges. The aromas are immediately apparent with a very positive raspberry and currant note showing, surrounded by a striking lift of 'noble' smoke, which in itself shows only from great years and great vineyards. The palate is fruity with length and fine texture. Though the overall effect is a flavorful finesse, there is a great impact of dried fruits and currants on the finish.

Includes small amounts of merlot, malbec and petit verdot.

The 2002 Siblings Cabernet Merlot is deep ruby with a dark center. The perfumed nose shows intense blackcurrant and blackberry fruits with black olive, dark chocolate and cigar box notes for complexity. Intense sweet fruits of blackcurrant and plum combined with fine, dusty tannins deliver a powerful, restrained palate with a long, lingering finish. A fine example of Margaret River Cabernet. Drink now or cellar up to five years for additional complexity.
